The early elections of the deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan were appointed on January 15, 2012 by the President of the republic on November 16, 2011, six days after the appeal of a group of parliament deputies to the president with a request to dissolve the Mazhilis and hold early elections. At the same time, on November 16, the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan appointed regular elections for deputies of Maslikhats on January 15.
Since 1999 public association "Echo" participates in observation of elections of all levels in Kazakhstan. Observation of the election of deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament and maslikhats of the Republic of Kazakhstan was conducted in all 14 oblasts of Kazakhstan, both in cities and villages, as well as in Almaty and Astana. The observation was conducted from the day of the announcement of the elections. 16 organizations were involved in organizing and conducting the monitoring. On the voting day observers visited more than 400 polling stations.
