NGO Echo, with the support of the Eurasia Foundation within the framework of the Social Innovation in Central Asia program, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is implementing  “Gender Budget for Local Communities”.

Project participant Zhanat Tulemisova carryied out a gender initiative on access to drinking water in the village of Kapal. Reliable access to safe sources of clean, edible water is a prerequisite for the development and prosperity of any community.

During the implementation of the project, from February 1, to achieve the goal, the monitoring of access to clear drinking water was carried out for residents of the village of Kapal, Aksu district. Review of state budgeting in terms of checking and controlling the quality of drinking water, collecting information from the population on water quality, the functioning of the water supply system, sending letters - requests to the relevant government agencies through the egov.kz electronic portal "Open Government".

Currently, efforts in consolidation with the local community and government agencies have resolved the issue of access to clean drinking water for women and residents of the village of Kapal. Funds were allocated for the repair and spare parts of the pump control system for pumping drinking water from the artesian well and now in the water supply network is running clean water!
